Workers will assist in the installation of landscape plants, sod, irrigation installation, plant maintenance and trimming, and hardscaping (Block wall, paver patios, etc.). Also may include some retail sales and assisting with retail stores with plant maintenance and customer service.

• Includes operation of wheelbarrows & shoveling.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable driving record. (We will check your record for insurance purposes)
• Must be in good physical health and able to do the heavy lifting (50-100 lbs).
• Must have recent tetanus shots.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Uniforms are required-Company will furnish shirts. Must wear closed-toed shoes.
• Company policy prohibits the use of addictive drugs.
• Company policy prohibits the use of alcohol during work hours.
• No Smoking/Vaping of Cigarettes or Marijuana is allowed anywhere on business premises or on job sites.

Job Opening Date: March 1st

Hours:

Work days during the winter start at 8:30 am until 4:00 pm. Winter work dates are from Nov. 1-April 1.

For Spring and Summer work, we expect our crews to leave out a lot by 8:00 am for job sites, so workers need to have their equipment trucks ready before that time. Crews may also be required to leave earlier in the day if they are traveling a long distance. East River Nursery furnishes shovels, rakes, brooms, etc. for landscape crews, but workers are expected to purchase their own pruners, gloves, and small hand tools. Workers are responsible for all tools that are lost or misplaced while working on jobs. Broken tools need to be reported to the crew foreman so they can be fixed.

40-hour work week with up to 60+ hours during our peak season (Overtime 1 ½)

(those under 18 are limited according to Federal rules)

Our operation is not open on Sundays and employees will have this day off unless they are asked to assist with plant maintenance (watering) during the summer season.

Days off: Request for unpaid days off will be considered by the store/landscape managers depending on the work schedule and time of year. Requests for days off must be entered at least 2 weeks before the needed time off.

Wages: Depends on Experience

Payroll: Wages are paid on a weekly basis on Mondays for the previous work week.

Company Discounts: Product discounts are available after 30 days of full-time work. Plants materials will be discounted at 50% off regular retail prices. Gift, greenhouse, and garden center items will have a 30% discount.

Insurance: Discounted Health Insurance is allowed after 60 days of full-time work for full-time employees.

Vacations: 1 week of paid vacation time is granted to full-time employees after 12 months of active work. Additional vacation days will accrue depending on time spent with our company.
